Wiggle Giggle Learn and the Twin Teacher
(The story of Play2Learn's birth)
Once upon a time, among the lush green trees of South Carolina, there lived twin sisters whose names rhymed. Tracey and Stacey grew to be fine young women and when it came time to choose their occupations, Stacey chose business. Meanwhile: "I'll teach children," thought Tracey.
And so she did. She began to change the lives of young ones, and the children and their mothers and fathers noticed.
Now it came to pass that Tracey began hearing the parents of her charges expressing a similar sentiment. "If only we would have known how to prepare our children for school!" they would sigh. She saw into their hearts that this was true, and that it vexed them exceedingly, for they felt they had missed an opportunity for their little ones.
"There must be something!" she said, and straightaway went to research the materials that were in the world. To her distress, she saw they had been written by people who were not early childhood educators—not at all! And they each took a long time to read, and then there was more time required to prepare extensive activities, and the lessons were not arranged so that one built upon another from the time a child was born to the time she was old enough for kindergarten.
As Tracey sat there and pondered, a twinkle appeared in her eye... and soon, what was once simply a twinkle became a full-fledged idea, and before she knew it Wiggle Giggle Learn had been conceived.
Tracey told Stacey of the upcoming birth. "I'm creating a learning community for parents, one that defines where education begins!" she exclaimed. No longer would she hear parents’ sighs. Instead, she and Stacey would provide them with resources showing them exactly how to develop the intellect, social skills, physical fitness, and responsibility of their children long before they reached kindergarten.
Combining her many years in the classroom with her experience as the mother of a toddler, Tracey set to work. Wiggle Giggle Learn took shape, becoming a natural and joyous learning program that would individualize each child’s learning while they participated in activities that were fun for them and their mothers and fathers, many of which would require less than 15 minutes each day.
Stacey began illustrating the nursery rhymes that are the delight of children and parents everywhere. And almost before she could turn around, parents of babies and toddlers across the nation were signing up to experience the official birth of Wiggle Giggle Learn, when its web site would burst rosy-cheeked into the world.
Tracey sat back for a moment—for that was all she could spare—and smiled, for she knew it would grow quickly: more parents joining, more resources added, and even a yearly convention where Wiggle Giggle children and their parents would meet, sharing in the joy of learning.
Only it wouldn't be just Wiggle Giggle Learn living happily ever after. In fact, every child whose mother and father brought them to Wiggle Giggle Learn would have the chance to truly live happily ever after too, for they would grow to love to learn, and school and life afterward would prize them for it.
